Day Nine

Today’s word made me giggle. Not because the actual word is funny, but because of the great (and admittedly slightly naughty) potential. It was one of those “should I? no...I can’t...yeah I can...I totally can...no...I probably shouldn’t...fuck it, it’s my art project. I’m gonna do it. *giggle*” I bet you’re dying to know what the word is. Aren’t you just dying to know? Well stop dying, there’s enough of that as there is.

Okay, the word is...

un-tie  v. To unfasten or loosen; to free from a restraint or bond.

Now you can see where I’m coming from... Anyway, I immediately thought of a corset. (and made the mistake of googling images of “corset”...oops. too much info there, google.) After washing out my eyes, I forged on.

Plenty of pictures tonight; I wanted to show you guys the stages (from pencil to paint) that I (try to) go through to get to a finished piece. I don’t ever make art using the same exact procedure, but this seemed like a logical way to go for this piece.

It began with pencil...

Was traced in pen...

And then delicately topped with a coating of acrylic paint...

I decided last minute to add a background to give it a little more character...
